MUSICAL BACKGROUND
I was 16 years old studying at Oban High School when I realised my love
for music had to be taken more seriously. At the stage of just listening
to music I decided to learn how to play guitar at a local youth club
with some of my friends.
Just under a year of learning guitar, my friends and I had already formed
a band together and decided that it was best for us to move to a larger
town to pursue some sort of music career. We all started doing an NC
in Music and Audio Technology at Ayr College.
After the NC we went on to do the HNC, my friends began to realise that
the recording and engineering side of music was not for them and left
Ayr to go back to Oban.
I gained a great interest in this side of music and stayed in Ayr to
progress my knowledge in this field.
Having been a keen songwriter I produced an album, from my home set-up
in the flat I was staying in at the time, with 13 songs of all my own
material. I gave the album out to friends and family and soon the album
was being copied all around Oban. With the success of the album it had
inspired me to create professional recordings of my material in the
college studio, this was done for my Project class which was part of
the HND Music and Audio technology course that I studied. I have since
ended my course in June 2004. Unfortunately the industry being what
it is - it is not easy to get work and I have had to pursue on another
career path, although I still write songs and record bands on my home
set-up.
